The art of tasting according to G. H. Mumm

At the beginning of September, the famous G.H.Mumm champagne house invited journalists and Happy Few to a private mansion near the Champs-Elys\u00e9es to discover two new creations for the end of 2011. Mumm called on the talents of designer Patrick Jouin and saddler and upholsterer Domeau & P\u00e9r\u00e8s. <\/p>\n

Patrick Jouin has taken care of the bottle’s temperature by creating an isothermal case in white calf leather, keeping the Magnum cool for almost two hours. There’s also a saber with a red leather guard. To purchase this boxed set, created by designer Patrick Jouin, visit the “best cellars” in Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille and Nantes, according to the company, at a price of 800\u20ac (limited edition).
\nDuring the glamorous presentation evening, sommeliers repeatedly sabered bottles according to the rite dating back to Napoleon. In the kitchen that evening, Bristol chef Eric Frachon delighted us with his Hadock pur\u00e9es with caviar. The view of the Arc de Triomphe did not spoil anything!

\nAnother novelty presented that evening was a design cube containing all the essential accessories for tasting rituals, designed by Domeau & P\u00e9r\u00e8s. Inside, a champagne bucket with a structure to hold six tulip-shaped flutes, a set of six Guy Degrenne forks and six Guy Degrenne spoon-bouch\u00e9es, six “on-the-go” plates and six Sil\u00e9a porcelain verrines, two Villeroy & Boch candlesticks and red leather cushions. This “Ritual box by G.H.Mumm” is available to order, in a limited edition of ten, at a price of \u20ac5,000.
