Nearly 2,500 invitations were printed for this “rentr\u00e9e litt\u00e9raire” event, which took place at the Flagship Virgin on the Champs Elys\u00e9es.
\nAnd the entire press and publishing world turned out en masse. Many of the writers on the shortlist made the trip, including Vanessa Schneider, who was all tanned and obviously didn’t have to spend her vacations in France.
\nScoop of the evening: the announcement by Jean-Louis Raynard, Chairman of the Board of Virgin Stores, of the opening of a 5th Virgin store in Paris, to be located in St Lazare. Inauguration scheduled for early 2012. Fran\u00e7ois Busnel, Editorial Director of Lire, as elegant as ever, is proud to be taking part in the creation of a back-to-school guide in partnership with Virgin.
\nFinally came the long-awaited moment of awarding the prize, and the evening’s big winner was John Burnside for Scintillation, published by M\u00e9taill\u00e9e
