\nDesigner Yohan Serfaty opened this year’s Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. At the Maison des M\u00e9tallos in the capital’s 11th arrondissement, he unveiled Catharsis, his new collection for his “Y Project.”
\nTo heavy music and in a heavy atmosphere, the three models paraded in very dark outfits. At the end of the catwalk, three backlit booths showed the silhouettes of the models changing outfits, punctuating the show with a play of light and shadow.
\nThe designer reaffirms his passion for the noble materials of leather, suede and wool. Here, the materials are presented in their purest form, with leather pants cut very close to the body and jackets as if cut with a scalpel. Hand-hiding sleeves, face-hiding wool collars and open-back leather boots complete the picture. The final result is a very chic ensemble, resolutely modern in its treatment of materials and cuts, while retaining a look reminiscent of twentieth-century military uniforms. Yohan Serfaty has skilfully blended a very contemporary Tokyo style into a collection that may be very dark, but has a futuristic feel without going overboard. “Y Project” dresses an elegant and inventive man, who knows how to juggle with materials, who wants quality while remaining sober in his originality.
