The 67th Venice Film Festival, presided over by Quentin Tarantino<\/strong>, has only just come to a close, and the controversy surrounding the awards list continues to rage.<\/p>\n

Sofia Coppola<\/strong> has just won the Lion d’Or for her film Somewhere<\/em>, starring Stephen Dorff <\/strong>and Elle Fanning,<\/strong> in which the director delves into the psychology of a man, deconstructing his feelings and emotions. Johnny Marco, a tortured actor and recently divorced father, drowns his grief and boredom in alcohol and girls. In the midst of his promotion, the actor lives in a hotel and leads a solitary life, oscillating between solitude and more unbridled moments, until the day his 11-year-old daughter Cleo comes to spend time with him. <\/p>\n

<\/object><\/p>\n

Even if jury president Quentin Tarantino, the director’s former companion, may be suspected of a conflict of interest, the big winner was no less deserving, as her talent cannot be disputed. Somewhere<\/em> is exactly the kind of film in which she has excelled since her debut Virgin Suicide<\/em>. A Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement was also awarded to Monte Hellmann<\/strong>, cult figure of independent cinema in the 70s and 80s and producer of Quentin Tarantino’s first film, Reservoir Dogs<\/em>. The Silver Lion for directing also went to one of my favorite directors, Spain’s Alex De La Iglesia<\/strong>, for his film Balada triste de trompeta<\/em>, a wacky parody of Francoism featuring two sad, disfigured and pathetic clowns played by Carlos Areces<\/strong> and Antonio de la Torre<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In any case, if there’s one area where Sofia Coppola can’t be disputed, it’s style, as she demonstrated her timelessly chic, understated style without fail.<\/p>\n

We love her casual chic for the presentation of her film, wearing a white men’s shirt with blue stripes and Bermuda shorts feminized by a discreet pair of black sandals, all by Louis Vuitton. Note the discreet charm of the gold cufflinks. <\/p>\n

Sofia Coppola always knows how to choose the little black dress that’s just right for her. For the premiere of Somewhere<\/em>, she chose a dress from Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2011 collection, whose transparent bustier hits the spot, while her waspish waist is highlighted by a slim belt. A black gold and crocodile Slim clutch from her Louis Vuitton collaboration was the perfect final glamorous touch to a flawless silhouette. <\/p>\n

For the Closing Ceremony, a little color doesn’t go amiss with this strapless gown from Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2011 collection. Loyalty pays off, and the director’s love affair with the brand is a winning one. <\/p>\n

And it was a festival of Louis Vuitton dresses that accompanied the premiere of Sofia Coppola’s film Somewhere<\/em>. Elisa Sednaoui paid tribute to the retro look proposed by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton’s Autumn-Winter 2010-2011 collection, choosing a strapless mid-length dress in bronze-gold moir\u00e9 and Louis Vuitton bow pumps. A Reverso Duetto in Pink Gold Jaeger-LeCoultre watch in rose gold completed the look. As for Cl\u00e9mence Po\u00e9sy<\/strong>, she was the perfect “gossip girl”, refreshing but stylish. A nude blouse with a round neck and XXL bow softened the blue of her miniskirt, accessorized with a clutch and Sofia Coppola wedges for Louis Vuitton. <\/strong><\/p>\n
