Nato a Neuburg an der Donau l&#8217;11 aprile 1949 dopo gli studi a Monaco di Baviera fonda nel 1979 la sua Constantin Film AG e produce, tra gli altri, i seguenti films : &#8220;Hitler, ein Film aus Deutschland&#8221; di Hans &#8211; Jurgen Syberberg (del 1977), &#8220;Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald&#8221; di Maximilian Schell (del 1979), &#8220;Falsche Bewegung&#8221; di Wim Wenders (sempre del 1979), &#8220;Christiane F. &#8211; Wir Kinder von Bahnhof Zoo&#8221; di Uli Edel (del 1981), &#8220;Der Name der Rose&#8221; di Jean &#8211; Jacques Annaud (del 1986), &#8220;Opernball&#8221; di Urs Egger (del 1998), &#8220;Der Fall Vera Bruhne&#8221; di Hark Bohm (del 2001), &#8220;Der Untergang&#8221; di Oliver Hirschbiegel (del 2004), &#8220;Elementarteilchen&#8221; di Oskar Roehler (del 2006), &#8220;Der Baader Meinhof Komplex&#8221; di Uli Edel (del 2008) e &#8220;Die Superbullen&#8221; di Gernot Roll .
