Designer George Hobeika invites us on a voyage into the depths of the sea for his Spring Summer 2011 Couture collection. The Lebanese designer wanted to pay homage to the feminine soul, cradle of oceans of emotions, by creating dresses inspired by the depths of the sea. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>In this collection, entitled“Nymphs of the Deep<\/em>“, shell-like details, seahorse embroidery and pebble-like shapes embellish dresses perfect for the red carpet. Hobeika’s new nymphs are organic creatures emerging from a natural marine world. Models wear their hair in a high ponytail, and make-up remains very natural. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Long strapless dresses alternated with shorter ones, and conventional silhouettes gradually gave way to more geometric ones where design and cut were given pride of place.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Organza, crepe and silk georgette crumple and gather in a wave-like motion to create a refined ensemble.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>A geometric belt emphasizing the slim waistline breathes a touch of chic into a silhouette inspired by the 50s or the navy, when the material is reminiscent of deep-sea plants.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Cascades of tassels skilfully adorn the back of a dress, swaying to the rhythm of your steps, when they’re not emphasizing a drape or delicately dressing d\u00e9collet\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Shoulders are becoming increasingly geometric, while some strapless bras are adorned with shells.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>The dresses come in light, pastel tones: pearly gray, lilac, golden-beige and white add lightness to the movements.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>And the highlight of the show, George Hobeika, a true goddess of the sea, is transformed into a glittering mermaid in her traditional eye-catching wedding gown.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>With this Spring\/Summer 2011 collection, George Hobeika confirms his talent for creating a truly poetic universe around his creations, and follows in the fine footsteps of his best-known compatriot by excelling in very Red Carpet dresses with an assertive sense of detail.<\/p>\n
