A hard-hitting left hook-<\/span><\/h2>\n

The story is that of Micky Ward (Mark Wahberg), an American boxer born in 1965 in Lowell, Massachusetts, renowned for his hard-hitting left hook, his great physical ability to resist pain, and for knocking out his opponents at the end of rounds with body blows. The famous phrase “head-body-head”, by way of strategy\/refrain, never leaves our side, and we fight with Micky in this way throughout the film, even against his own people… <\/span><\/p>\n

At the top of the bill, his mother (Melissa Leo), who has naturally taken on the role of boxer’s manager (not to be confused with the role and function of a mother), portrays a woman at her most hysterical and irrational in her dealings with those closest to her. <\/span><\/p>\n

Close behind is her brother (Christian Bale), an ex-ring champion, still covered in local semi-glory, who has now swapped his boxing gloves for crack pipes, but continues to think\/fantasize that his experience as a former boxer remains indispensable to his brother’s success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last but not least, the horde of sisters, jealous and treacherous, blonde to the point of blurring, who instead of dissolving or at least easing tensions, never cease to energize them with rumors, slut-shaming and pettiness of all kinds. <\/span><\/p>\n

As is often the case in these toxic, foul-smelling whirlwinds of life, a woman (Amy Adams) with a fiery temperament adds a fair amount of bleach to the story, inspiring the boxer with courage in the hope that he’ll finally emancipate himself from the family that keeps him under its thumb – to death. <\/span><\/p>\n
