A product with a purely British identity linked to the rebellious atmosphere and music scene of the 1960s, the initially orthopedic shoe was quickly adopted by the working classes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Born on April 1, 1960 in the Wollaston factories, the brand’s first model was named “1.4.60” in memory of that day.
It quickly became a symbol of British counter-culture, anti-capitalism, the skinhead movement and the rock, indie, punk, rock, new wave and ska music movements.<\/p>\n

Recently, the shoe has made a comeback in the fashion pages of magazines, at the feet of Agyness Deyn, Marc Jacobs or Lourdes Ciccone.
In autumn 2009, the brand collaborated with “Comptoir des cotonniers”.<\/p>\n

To accompany this anniversary, the Nothhampton Museum and Art Gallery will present the exhibition “Dr Martens at 50: the Making of an Icon” from March 20 to May 16, 2010.<\/p>\n

The brand will relaunch two flagship models on April 1, 2010: the 1.4.60 boot and the sober 1.4.61.<\/p>\n

She will bring in talented directors such as Rankin, Sanders and Norton to develop videos of punk and rock music covers of the bands that made the brand famous by current British bands.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
