Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella continues to expand its product range in the wake of its 800th anniversary, with the launch of a complete new cosmetics line based around its historic tonic water, Acqua Di Rose.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rosewater distillate was first used during a dark period in Florence’s history: in the 14th century, Dominican friars used it both as a disinfectant and as a natural remedy to relieve plague patients. It was in 1381 that the sale of the preparation signed Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella was first attested, elevating Damascus rosewater to the status of an emblematic remedy. <\/p>\n
