For two and a half years now, the French-English designer Annabel Winship has been adorning the feet of mischievous young girls with colorful and playful creations. Meet a humble young woman whose collections are reminiscent of surprise packages!
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Annabel, what is your background?<\/strong>
\nI am a graduate of the Duperr\u00e9 school in textile and fashion design. After my training, I worked at Stella Cadente for eight years as a studio manager. I gained a lot of experience in managing a collection, in creating a coherent whole. This brand has a very strong identity; I think that’s its strength.<\/p>\n

How would you define your style?<\/strong>
\nMy shoes are almost classics revisited: the derby, the little boot, etc.. My pleasure is that when you see one of my pairs, you can tell right away that it is an Annabel Winship. However, I’m not looking to revolutionize the shoe, mine are simple with just little special details, such as a nice curve or print and color. But as a customer I could not find this kind of shoes. When there is color, it is often either really cheap or Italian shoes, very beautiful but with very high heels, that I don’t want to wear.<\/p>\n

What shoes do you wear? What brands do you like?<\/strong>
\nBesides my sneakers, I mostly wear my designs because I really create what I want as a customer. Among my other shoes, there are Charles Jourdan as well as a pair I bought for ten euros in Belleville (I never wore them, you can’t walk in them!), as well as an Italian brand I didn’t know or Free Lance. I don’t have a favorite brand.<\/p>\n

How did your collaboration with Andr\u00e9 come about?<\/strong>
\nA journalist advised me to call Andr\u00e9, telling me that the brand was often looking for designers for partnerships. I thought they wouldn’t be interested, it took me three weeks to decide to call and then when I did, I had an appointment within a day.
\nThe work was very simple. They gave me a lot of freedom. They told me which models they liked best and then I came back with my designs and very soon I had the prototypes made.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where is the production based?<\/strong>
\nMy models are made in Spain, in Elda, a city very well known for the footwear. Many brands, including Pedro Garcia and Maloles, have their models made there.<\/p>\n

What is the inspiration for the spring\/summer 2010 collection?<\/strong>
\nI was inspired by the idea of the wonderwoman and at the same time by the pin-ups of the fifties. I integrated the animal skin into the collection but in a playful spirit, without the vulgar aspect.<\/p>\n
