Letters to Yves, the collection of letters written by Pierre Berg\u00e9 to Yves Saint Laurent will be released in bookstores on March 4.
\nThe man who shared the life of the creator for 50 years confides and reveals in this book a part of his intimacy, a surprising step from Pierre Berg\u00e9, who has always shown himself to be very secretive with regard to the media about his private life.
\nPerhaps Dominique Leli\u00e8vre’s recent rag has encouraged him to publish his letters? Described by the author as a “biographical psychoanalysis”, Saint Laurent Bad Boy<\/em> paints a bleak portrait of the couture genius. The darkest side of the designer is exposed, and his neuroses accentuated in such a way that it is difficult to believe that the main goal was not to tarnish the image of the designer.
\nBegun one evening in December, a few months after the death of Yves Saint Laurent, Letters to Yves is a true diary of the absence of the man who shared Yves Saint Laurent’s life, from his beginnings in fashion to his death on June 1, 2008.
\nA certain willingness to deny what has been said, certainly, but above all a poignant confession, “The time had come to say certain things. Yves is a public figure and I imagined that many lies would be written and told about his life. Talking about us was a way to refute them.
