Difficult to succeed to Nirvana (of Claude Challe) and to La Villa Barclay…
\nThe Club Matignon, created by Gilbert Costes, nevertheless succeeds in this challenge thanks to a superb facelift.
\nOn the first floor, the restaurant, with its chandeliers and decor by Jacques Garcia, offers a superb view of the Champs-Elys\u00e9es garden. In a muffled atmosphere, surprising coats of mail and mirrors dress the walls. Every night of the week, the “house” DJs create a “chill out” atmosphere.
\nA bar in the early evening, Club Matignon changes its atmosphere from 11:30 pm onwards, and becomes the restaurant’s nightly playground.
\nUntil now, Charles Tassin was left without a decorative signature and was given the mission to reinvent the club. Like the decorator-engineers of the 1940s and 70s, Charles Tassin’s attachment to the decorative arts of the 20th century made him a natural choice. The decorator knew
\ninfuse a modernity, a bold and sensual refinement to this place.
\nWith his wife Maylis, he found the inspiration for the decor in the
\n“Ball of the Century” by Charles de Beistegui, now considered a visionary aesthete. The Naiads of the panels, adjoin
\nthe leopard backs of the floor, give life to a virile and shimmering setting, a conscious tribute to the safari club of yesteryear.
\nAn address that is now unavoidable.
