THE GLENROTHES LAUNCHES ITS NEW LIMITED EDITION ON THE FRENCH MARKET: THE GLENROTHES 42.
A MASTERPIECE INSPIRED BY THE COLORFUL LANDSCAPE OF THE HIGHLANDS.

The Glenrothes, the renowned single malt brand of the Edrington Scottish Spirits Group, is launching a new ultra-premium limited edition, The Glenrothes 42 inspired by the colors of the estate where The Glenrothes distillery is located, nestled in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Glenrothes unveils a new limited edition single malt on the French market: The 42. Carefully selected by Laura Rampling, Master Whisky Maker, this whisky has been aged for over four decades on the Glenrothes estate. This new limited edition The 42 is the first whisky of this age count to be released by The Glenrothes, with only 1,134 bottles available worldwide.

The shape of the crystal decanter is inspired by the oak staves of the estate’s barrels. Each piece has been meticulously handcrafted and blown by Dartington Crystal artisans to create a perfect, hexagonal finish.

The case that dresses this spirit illustrates the colors of the estate in Rothes, a true haven of peace where The Glenrothes whisky is aged, incorporating a silver leaf overlay. The box is wrapped in an aged verdigris copper band that opens to reveal this exceptional spirit.

Kerr Arthur, Director of The Glenrothes, says, « The Glenrothes 42 offers a true journey back in time. This whisky celebrates generations of excellence and pays tribute to Rothes’ tradition and creativity. »

Laura Rampling, Master Whisky Maker at The Glenrothes, selected the whisky from only four barrels that she believes produce a liquid that reflects the colors of the Rothes landscape. « This 42 year old whisky exemplifies The Glenrothes. These four casks have led a journey of over four decades, refining the delicate, fruity character of our new whisky. A little bit of science, added to a little bit of alchemy and magic, results in an elegant whisky that truly expresses the unique character of The Glenrothes, » says Laura Rampling.

Master Whisky Maker’s tasting notes:

– Nose: Ripe apricots, orange peel and sweet almonds. Elegantly scented with notes of coriander seed and nutmeg, and a hint of fresh cedar wood.

– Palate: Richly sweet with brown sugar and honey. Creamy with vanilla and toasted almonds. Some light oak and a distinctive orange oil scent.

-Finish: Creamy, soft and velvety with a slight persistent perfume.

The Glenrothes, one of the Edrington Group’s iconic brands

Like its founder, The Glenrothes has always been committed to igniting the curiosity that lies within. Mr. James Stuart never did things the way other people did. It was this visionary thinking that led him to dream of a new distillery in his hometown of Rothes that would bring his true passion of making single malt whiskey to life by exploring new ways of doing things. A lighter, fruitier, creamier whisky and, most importantly, with a particularly slow aging.

In 1879, the first single malt of James was born. The resulting whisky is a fusion of traditional methods and the latest technological advances, united by the distillery’s abundant supply of crystal clear spring water, creating an exceptional single malt.

Today, the brand is defined by four fundamental pillars:

  • The Glenrothes is one of the few distilleries in Scotland to have its own water source. It allows to provide every drop necessary to the elaboration of a whisky to reveal all its pure and unequalled character.
  • Slower and more meticulous than most other distillers, large copper stills are used long enough to remove impurities and achieve the lighter, fruitier taste that makes The Glenrothes incomparable.
  • The distillery’s coopers know the wood better than anyone. They ensure that each drop of whiskey is gently aged in carefully selected sherry casks to achieve the perfect balance of flavors.

Traditional barrel aging gives this spirit its rich, pure color, which to this day remains entirely natural.

Available at high-end retailers, bars and restaurants, The Glenrothes 42 has a suggested retail price of €7,500.
