Collection Notes:

Christian Wijnants Fall/Winter 2020 collection is inspired by a Sunday afternoon spent at a historic museum, where objects from all over exist in one place, contributing to the same story, although their origin may be different or not even clear. It is about serenity, having a peaceful mind and feeling comfortable and cozy in the clothes you wear.

The collection begins with a mix of what the brand has become known for, inventive knitwear and fluid dressing, before moving on to colorful prints through a continued poetic approach to designing. Different techniques can be seen throughout, from handmade crochet pieces that are designed to replicate a reptile to fringe made of jersey fabric that has been stretched to create a natural roll. The RTW is soft, but abstract, effortless and minimal such as the oversized coats with exaggerated necks that resemble a cocoon and a suit that is bold in color yet relaxed in its silhouette, balancing between masculine and feminine. The brand included more accessories this season with oversized, knotted totes and footwear consistent of platformed loafers and combat boots, as well as sandals that are styled with socks throughout. The collection navigated its color palette through soft colors, such as mint, pistachio and pink, to a brighter tangerine, as well as darker greens and blues and the classic black and white.

Like an exhibition at a museum, the Fall/Winter 2020 Christian Wijnants collection is diverse yet uniform in the story it tells.
