HERON PRESTON DEBUTS SPRING/SUMMER 2019 COLLECTION TITLED “EN VOGUE” The Designer Stages An Assembly Line Performance To Showcase His New Collection During PFW Men’s

PARIS, FRANCE – JUNE 21, 2018: For Spring/Summer 2019, Heron Preston created a collection firmly rooted in his fascination with workwear, taking rustic inspiration from industrial design to create safety product graphics, hardware details and deconstructed classic utilitarian pieces. In a new phase of exploration into “the worker” aesthetic, the collection considers the assembly line,
re-contextualizing factory issued prints, serial numbers and codes for high fashion. Nods to the color-blocking of 1990s sportswear apparel can be seen in the brands outerwear, while tangible references can be seen in its newest print design: a birds-eye view of Australia’s terrain.

In addition to new renditions of the label’s namesake, Heron Preston ushers in an updated riff on the CТИЛЬ « STYLE » logo using Chinese characters (Heron Preston will open his first retail location in Hong Kong in October 2018), as well as an updated version of the logo in dynamic italics.

A graphic with the word “melted” invokes metal and mind, and the brand’s industrial tape theme is expanded this season into a print. “The process is magic to me,” Preston says, a nod to another new graphic which invokes the unseen element of a magic show as well as the magic of the creative process that serves as a backbone for each product’s production.

In accessories Preston debuts a new molded plastic toolkit handbag, inspired by protective cases, as well as an adaptation of the brand’s staple fanny pack, reworked as a dual-fanny-pack-backpack hybrid. The fanny pack also makes a cameo on a number of workwear staples within the collection, most notably a utility vest.

In womenswear, the collection features cropped workwear silhouettes with industrial touches, cargo skirts with side pockets, hoodies with reflective zippers, and a new bodywork graphic with flames. The collection also expands on the line’s swimwear offering, with new styles including a one-piece with netting details.

The Spring/Summer 2019 collection unveils the Nike Tailwind HP, a new performance eyewear collaboration with Nike Vision. Preston worked closely with the Nike Vision design team to refresh the iconic Nike Tailwind silhouette, crafting a new, unique lens shape, complete with four interchangeable accessory lenses in reflective grey, orange-grey, yellow, and dark grey, each designed to be worn at different times of day. Signature Heron Preston “HP” and “STYLE” logos adorn the sleek Nike Tailwind frame.

Nike Tailwind originally debuted in 2008 in a sleek, lightweight, contoured design, offering superior clarity and engineered ventilation to help runners stay focused and cool. The current iteration—of which Preston has partnered with Nike—was released in 2016. The Nike Tailwind HP will be sold at select Nike retail locations and on Nike.com.
