This Autumn Winter 2012 collection marked the second season for designer Alistair Carr as the creative director of iconic brand Pringle of Scotland, and although completely different in shape and palette from the previous one, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Carr signed a quite classical yet modern collection, focussing on simple shapes and knit patterns, with a mix of sportswear chic jumpers in monochrome tones, teamed with leather cigarette pants or A-line leather skirts, and more elaborated dresses with contrasting black and white or rust panels.

The box pleating on the back of the coats were inspired, as Carr mentioned, by memories of youth and school uniforms, as were the V neck jumpers and cardigans throughout the collection. Most jackets and coats came in double faced crepe with fur effect knit, to give the appearance of astrakhan, and beautifully contrasting collars and sleeves in orange, bubble gum pink or mint.

There was a fantastic candy pink angora sweater that will definitely make our next winter season so much nicer and cheerful. Another highlight of the collection was an entirely knitted dress (also declined as a top), structured with tubular knitted and wavy details.

The overall palette, whilst dominated by neutral tones, also offered rich yet subtle colours throughout, with lots of pink, burgundy, bottle green, mint, or tangerine in contrasting details.
