The 1928 built hostorical Babylon cinema in Berlin Mitte, was the venue where Colombian/Spanish fashion designer Ricardo Ramos presented his latest collection on Thursday evening 19th january 2012 to an audience of 400 people during the FW2012 Berlin Fashion Week edition. The Decó style architecture of this jewel of Mitte district was the ideal background for this retro style collection where the characteristic color palette of Ramos was once again invoked and was materialized with silks, wools, furs, lurex , knitwear and latex, this time in a series of 1930’s inspired cocktail dresses with strong oriental and hispanic influence, coats made out of recycled furs and waste materials, kimonos, evening gowns and two pieces ensembles, complemented by latex couture fetish wear, and a nude skin coloured bathing suit which is a preview of Ramos’ ongoing project with Colombian swimwear brand Magento Amarilla.
The shoes were surrealist creations by Polish shoemaker Koll Ana that echoed the Deco style of the evening. The show featured by Polish singing sensation Ada Fijal aka Madame Retro hosted the evening and performed four songs from her repertoire, which was also the soundtrack to the whole choreography in a 1930’s expressionist performance style. High Berliner corsetry by TOmTO Berlin and IC-Berlin eyewear complemented the styling of the collection. La Lola Moderna, the name of this collection, is also the title of the film series « Vintage Hispanic Fashion film Series » in the context of the Berlin Fashion Week that Ramos has curated and is organized by the Instituto Cervantes Berlin. Santa, the first Spoken Mexican film, was screened after the fashion show.
